Healing diastasis and getting your tummy to look like it did pre-pregnancy can sometimes require a holistic wellness approach that might also include fitness, healthy eating, weight loss, or stress reduction. If you find you need assistance in some of these areas I've included a directory of related professionals I have worked with in the past.
Acupuncture can help with the pain while we working on solving the problem. Also, if you are tired, stressed out, anxious, or angry, your body is distracted, sapped of energy and unable to focus on healing. Acupuncture is a great way to help your body rest and relax.

Staying fit and/or losing weight can often compliment the results of a closing diastasis. It's important to work with a personal trainer who understand diastasis recti and can provide the appropriate modifications to any recommended training.

If you are stressed out, anxious or angry your body will be unable to focus on healing. Yoga is a great way to help your body relax however certain yoga postures that stretch the abs like, ‘cow pose’, ‘up-dog,’ could worsen the condition. Make sure you work with a yoga instructor who understands diastasis recti and can offer modifications to your workout. I highly recommend:

If you plan to work with a birthing professional it is imperative that she/he understands diastasis. Make sure you speak about diastasis when you first meet with your birthing professional. I recommend any of the birthing professionals listed on the site below.

It’s important for the pelvis to be well aligned and balance while you work to heal a diastasis. If the pelvic joints are restricted or out of alignment, it will be more difficult to maintain proper core stabilization during challenging exercises and everyday activities. Chiropractic adjustments can help restore proper pelvic alignment and muscle balance.
